Four Walls, One Join

Built from off-the-shelf galvanized steel studs and UltraLight drywall, Four Walls, One Join revisits the ordinary language of American interior construction as a spatial object. Four partial walls meet in a cross-shaped plan, producing a condition that appears at once divided and continuous, symmetrical and displaced. Apertures, exposed framing, and curved cuts turn the wall into both surface and structure, front and back, image and support. In dialogue with Marcel Duchamp’s Door, 11 rue Larrey, the installation treats the joint not as a hidden detail, but as the central event: a place where construction, perception, and illusion briefly occupy the same plane.
