“Soft Dolmens” reinterprets ancient dolmens using modern materials like Twin and Double Intex air mattresses as structural elements. Anchored for stability, this lightweight, inflatable installation frames the Malibu sunset during the vernal equinox, offering a serene, temporary retreat. The project blends archetypal forms with everyday materials, creating a dialogue between history and the present.

The Summer Canopy is a temporary, lightweight structure designed to provide shade and highlight the scenic hilltop views of Calabasas, California. Made from 1/2” PVC pipes, nylon ropes, dumbbells for weights, and a bright yellow tarp, it is easy to assemble and embodies a sense of impermanence. The flexible design allows the materials to move with the wind, creating a dynamic, flowing effect that emphasizes the structure’s ephemeral nature.

CMU Temple

CMU Temple is a pavilion made of four towering columns, composed of dry-stacked CMU blocks arranged in varying orientations, define the space with rhythmic solidity and lightness. A timber frame delicately rests atop the structure, supporting a corrugated polycarbonate roof. This project reinterprets common construction materials in an elemental, tectonic expression of shelter and permanence.

Electric Pyramid consists of three mobile, metallic figures made from alloy steel structures on wheels, covered in Mylar reflective sheets, and lit with LED tubes. These figures interact to form a collective pyramid shape, exploring the relationship between materiality and off-the-shelf components. The project investigates how these elements contribute to the enduring nature of archetypal forms, while the combination of movement, reflectivity, and light creates a sensory experience that highlights the tension between permanence and temporality in architectural expression.

It uses off-the-shelf materials from the Home Depot, including 2x4 whitewood studs, corrugated clear PVC roof panels, Simpson Strong-Tie connectors, and zinc-plated wood screws to create a structure. The hut emphasizes the simplicity and accessibility of construction with common materials, while the clear PVC roof panels allow natural light to fill the interior, fostering an open and airy atmosphere that connects occupants with their surroundings.
